TIS have proudly supported Centro for over a decade. Over that time we have provided technical solutions across their CCTV, Security and communication systems. We have also provided a reactive service and proactive maintenance programme. More recently a fully comprehensive support agreement has been put in place.
Centro are responsible for delivery of public transport in the West Midlands, they represent the seven District Councils, Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Centro operate from their main offices at Centro House Birmingham from where they cover the transport network of interchanges, rail stations, bus stations, bus routes, Metro stops, Park and Ride schemes and Travel Information Centres.
The Control Room was moved from Lancaster House to Centro House in 2012 and opened by the Secretary of State for Transport. The new control room was part of a £1.2million project bringing together Centro and the West Midlands Police.
A comprehensive maintenance contract on the entire system with full 24 hour emergency cover was awarded to TIS in April 2012.
Working on sites spread across the West Midlands is a complex and challenging operation with regards to the logistics of working in a challenging environment. TIS have decades of experience working in this particular type of public space employing independent Health and Safety specialists and fully trained engineers, to the latest regulations.
TIS keep abreast of the latest technology to ensure clients are provided with the most up to date equipment and systems available, always with an eye to value engineering. We are currently working on upgrades and extensions to the Control Room and upgrading the estate of over 1200 CCTV cameras to a total IP network using BT RS1000d digital circuits.
